My favorite animal is called the secretary bird. I first saw one at the Philadelphia Zoo and I immediately loved the look and swagger of the bird when it walked. They are terrestrial birds that live in the savannas of Africa, and with its eagle-like body, crane-like legs, and awesome head plumage they are not easily mistakable. They are birds of prey and eat other animals ranging from insects to snakes. While theses birds do live mostly on land, they have the ability to fly and can be mistaken for a crane and not a bird of prey when they do. When they hunt for snakes the birds circle around the reptile while striking it fiercely with their feet numerous times and it is a spectacle. Secretary birds are elegant and deadly, and that is only part of why they are my favorite animal.
